Smile :) Its not so bad.

I happened to come across this video, and whilst watching it I couldnt help but smile and feel heartache at the same time. Cancer is not a disease I wish even upon my worst enemy. Its a dreaded disease the eats and takes no prioners - after losing my uncle - Uncle Denis Msimanga to the disease and seeing it eat at his body - I vowed to take care of my health and respect the disease- after all I come from  a blood line of cancer - sad but true.

This video brightened up my evening shift, and I realised things are really not that bad as they seem - most people are dull and depressed before under-going surgery; this lady on the other hand handled it with so much grace and positivity. One could learn a thing or two from her :)

I salute people who always make the best out of sad or straneous situations.

"Facing a double mastectomy with grace takes courage. Facing one with courage and joy is extraordinary.

But that’s exactly what Deborah Cohan did yesterday right before she went into surgery to have her breasts removed. Cohan, an Ob/Gyn and mom of two, held a dance party with her medical team in the operating room of Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco.

This inspiring 6-minute-long video, posted on YouTube, shows Cohan busting some serious moves as she wiggles and twerks to Beyonce’s hit “Get Me Bodied.” Cohan requested that friends and family make videos of themselves dancing to Bey too so that she could watch them during her recovery. “I have visions of a healing video montage,” she wrote. “Nothing brings me greater joy than catalyzing others to dance, move, be in their bodies. Are you with me people?”

They were. You can check out videos of Deborah’s fans shaking their booties in solidarity on her CaringBridge page.

Deborah, we wish you a speedy recovery. And can we go clubbing with you when you’re all better?"

My future...

So recently I had one of those peaceful over-come with joy rush flow down my spine then curb back to mind – kind of an epiphany of my future….This what gave me the chills – my future is this peaceful.

Trip down hair lane.

                                                             I AM NOT MY HAIR

Most ladies fear going the short hair route. From a young age, I always believed in starting from scratch if I failed to find a new hair do.

Yes family, friends and foes I have decided to say goodbye to my dreadlocks and hello to my short natural hair. So what inspired this decision? Change - a word that roams my mind almost every day, and ofcourse the freedom of waking up to not worry about combing or looking clumsy.

I have never been the shy type- well - when it came to my hair that is, I never shyed away from loving myself enough to be confident in anything I wear or the hairstyle I rock.

I'll probably plate and do all kinds of things to my hair, but one thing for sure I'll keep it natural and continue to exude confidence.

Enough with the blabber, here are a few photographs down memory lane of some of the hairstyles I have managed to exude confidence in.

THIS IS THE NEW HAIR DO OCTOBER 2013
This big afro look-which mind you - was platted over my dreadlocks, I've been dealing with this afro look for a year and half. LoVe It. :)

Funny thing about this photograph is, I really wanted the ladies hair beside me lol, but then again you can never go wrong with box braids-they here to stay, and boy were they heavy because I platted them over my dreads too.

This photograph was taken four years ago, I still worked as a club door lady. The hairstyle was inspired by Rihanna, remember when everyone went through a phase of shaving the sides of their hair - yup i was part of that crowd. I platted the middle -  not to bad but i wouldnt do it again.

There you go! The photograph with the sides of my hair cut.

One can never go wrong with a fringe - love it.

The cone. These are or should I say were my dreadlocks, platted in a cone shaped hairstyle- the stares I used to get from this hairdo, you'd swear I killed someone lol - GO BIG OR GO HOME RIGHT?

My dreadlocks loose - wondering how long I had them? For five years - no jokes. My hair grows fast I guess.

Dreads in a bun.

And that lady and gentlemen is the youngest of my siblings- Kagiso Msimanga, also blessed with good hair. She had curled my dreads for me on this night #sisterlove.

South African talent

I have said and i'll say it again SA's got talent. Here is one of my favourite latest tracks by Cassper Nyovest ft Okmalumkoolkat "Gusheshe". Music in my country has trannscended to another level, and I can confidently say that most artists are realising difference and purity in their talents, they not regugitating the same b***s*** that we hear every day from developed countries.

To thes talented men i say NUff ReSpEKt and Big Ups YourSelVS...

My BOY Brian the Photographer

Young, gifted and one hell of a photographer. On this day Brian Molepo and his pals displayed lovely photographs that they single handidly took. I still rate government must provide young entrepreneurs and up and coming talented fine arts youth with funding. South Africa is talented.
